Fibre drums are just as durable and versatile as their plastic or steel counterparts, at a fraction of the cost. Due to their relatively lighter composition, fibre drums are not the preferred choice for chemicals or corrosive materials. However, in the textile, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage industries, they’re more than capable of safely storing and transporting products.
Fibre drums are regulated under the same United Nations certification as other containers, guaranteeing quality and capacity every time.

What is the difference between cardboard, kraft, and fibre drums?
There is no practical difference! Cardboard shipping barrels, kraft drums, and fibre drums are all industry terms for containers manufactured from wound kraft paperboard layers.
Are fibre drums waterproof?
Standard fibre drums are moisture-resistant for indoor environment use. However, if you plan to store containers outdoors or in damp conditions, we supply Waterproof Fibre Drums specifically engineered with a moisture-barrier layer to prevent degradation in rain or high humidity.
What is a lockable cardboard shipping barrel?
Being able to clean and reuse plastic drums with relative ease adds to their appeal of being versatile. However, the product that was previously carried in the plastic drum will determine the best method of cleaning. For chemicals, a water-based solvent and a high-pressure hosepipe may be the best option. Conversely, common household items can be just as effective. Adding a few tablespoons of chlorine bleach to several gallons of water or scrubbing with baking soda can do wonders for plastic drums that carried foodstuff. However, note that washing your plastic drum will not make it fit to carry anything. Never carry food or beverages in a plastic drum that carried toxic chemicals, no matter how clean the surface looks.
Can fibre drums be UN approved for hazardous materials?
Yes. Our range features UN Packing Group II certification as standard for solid, granular, and powder substances.
How do I recycle a fibre drum at end-of-life?
Fibre drums are easy to recycle. The steel closing ring and metal chimbs can be detached and recycled with scrap metal, while the main cylinder goes directly into standard cardboard recycling streams.
