What is an Oil Spill Kit?

Oil spill kits are manufactured using hydrophobic, absorbent materials that can effectively absorb oil-based fluids whilst repelling water. They are a highly efficient tool to have on hand in environments where oil spills are likely to occur.  Spills involving oil, diesel, petrol or lubricants can create serious environmental risks, as well as slip hazards that can threaten workplace safety. 

Available in multiple sizes and formats, our oil spill kits are purposely designed for use just with oil spills and contain specially selected absorbents that are safe and effective for hydrocarbons. Durable and easy to deploy both on or off-site, an oil spill kit is a must-have.

Oil Spill Kit Bins

Oil spill kit bins act as your front-line defence when an unexpected oil spill occurs. They are designed to be highly visible, weather-resistant, and varying in size so that they can work in any environment. A spill bin allows rapid deployment across busy industrial environments such as marine docks, warehouses and construction sites to help avoid any environmental damage or safety incidents.

Choosing the right size oil spill bin comes down to knowing your maximum potential leak. For mobile bins, such as in HGV cabs or service vans, we recommend the compact 80 litre kits. For larger areas such as workshops or factories, we recommend choosing a kit from 120 litres to ensure you are able to contain a major oil spill.

Oil Spill Kit Refills

Oil spill kit refills are a cost-effective way to replenish used absorbents without replacing the entire container or wheeled bin. Our refill kits contain oil-only absorbent pads, absorbent socks, hazardous waste bags, security tags, instructions, and ties. We recommend replacing your spill kit materials as soon as they have been deployed so that your site remains fully compliant, legally prepared, and ready for any future incidents.

Oil Spill Kit Granules

Spill granules are an alternative to absorbent pads and are great for use on hard or uneven surfaces where liquids can spread fast, such as warehouse concrete floors or yard tarmacs. Standard multi-purpose absorbents are not always optimal for specific hydrocarbon pooling, which is why we recommend dedicated oil-only granules or heavy-duty mineral absorbents to ensure a thorough, slip-free clean-up.
