CurTec Click Pack Pails

CurTec Click Pack pails are reusable HDPE containers with a wide opening and quarter-turn screw lid. The current ITP Packaging range includes 6, 10 and 15 litre capacities for commercial packaging applications involving compatible powders, granules, tablets, ingredients and other solid products. Other sizes are available on request.

The lid is designed to close with a short turn until the locking mechanism clicks into position. An integrated gasket helps provide a barrier against moisture ingress, while the tapered container shape allows empty pails to be nested to reduce storage and transport space.

Selected Click Pack pails carry product specific 1H2 UN markings for solids. Dangerous goods suitability must be checked against the exact product marking, filled weight, contents and current supporting documentation.

Choose the capacity according to the required product volume, bulk density, headspace and maximum permitted filled weight.

Capacity alone is not sufficient when selecting dangerous goods packaging. Two solids with the same volume may have very different weights, so check both the required fill volume and the gross filled mass.

Review the individual product page for the exact dimensions, UN marking, product code and quantity pricing. Where a specification is critical, request the current manufacturer datasheet and supporting certificate before ordering.

How the Quarter-Turn Lid Works

To close the pail, position the lid correctly and turn it through approximately a quarter turn until the mechanism clicks into its locked position.

The click is a useful indication that the lid has reached the designed closing position. It does not replace the manufacturer’s instructions or product-specific dangerous-goods documentation.

Before filling or closing:

• Inspect the container, lid, gasket and locking mechanism.
• Make sure the closure and sealing surfaces are clean.
• Check that the lid is the correct model for the pail.
• Do not use damaged or distorted components.
• Follow any product-specific closing and sealing instructions.

To open the pail, press the locking button and turn the lid in the opening direction.

Where visible evidence of opening is required, confirm and use a compatible CurTec sealing pin or sealing strip. A locking button and a tamper-evident seal perform different functions.

Understanding the UN Marking

The products in this category carry individual 1H2 markings for solids. The figures following X, Y and Z state the maximum gross masses associated with the relevant packing groups for that particular design.

A UN marking does not mean that the pail can be used for every hazardous solid. Before dangerous-goods transport, confirm:

• The classification and packing group of the contents.
• That the product is permitted in the selected packaging.
• The maximum gross mass shown in the marking.
• The exact pail, lid, gasket and sealing configuration.
• The required closing instructions.
• Any conditions in the certificate or test report.
• The responsibilities of the filler and consignor.

Request the current documentation where the pail will be used for regulated transport.

Food Ingredients and Pharmaceutical Applications

CurTec markets Click Pack pails for sectors including food ingredients, speciality chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Sector use should not be treated as automatic approval for every application.

Pharmaceutical applications may require additional controls such as supplier qualification, cleanliness requirements, batch traceability, change control and validation. Confirm that the available documentation meets your quality system and regulatory requirements.

Filling and Temperature Guidance

Follow the current CurTec user manual before filling, closing, stacking or transporting the pails.

CurTec’s current Click Pack instructions state that the contents should not exceed 70°C during hot filling and should cool to 30°C before the container is closed. These limits should be checked against the exact pail model and the requirements of the contents before use.

Allow sufficient headspace and avoid contaminating the lid, gasket or sealing surfaces during filling.

Moisture Protection

The integrated gasket is designed to provide a barrier against moisture ingress when the pail is correctly closed. CurTec states that the moisture-vapour transmission rate has been assessed using an ASTM test method.

Actual protection will also depend on:

• Correct lid application.
• The condition and cleanliness of the gasket.
• Storage temperature and humidity.
• Storage duration.
• Repeated opening and closing.
• Damage or deformation.
• The moisture sensitivity of the contents.

Where moisture control is critical, request the relevant test information and assess the complete packaging system under the intended conditions.

Nesting, Handling and Storage

The tapered design allows empty pails to fit inside one another. This can reduce the warehouse and vehicle space needed for empty packaging.

Nesting applies to empty containers. Do not assume that filled pails can be stacked to any height. Follow the manufacturer’s limits for static stacking, dynamic loads, pallet patterns and temperature conditions.

A plastic handle may be available for some Click Pack configurations. Confirm whether the selected ITP product includes a handle or whether it must be ordered separately.

Before reuse, inspect the pail, lid, locking button and gasket. Reuse may not be appropriate where the previous contents, cleaning process, dangerous-goods rules or hygiene requirements could affect safety or compliance.
